Meet the seven leading universities, NGOs, and research centers working together to co-create the DIGIDEM curriculum and digital citizenship ecosystem.
Université Clermont Auvergne (UCA) is a multidisciplinary institution with 20 faculties, 5 doctoral schools and 39 research laboratories spanning sciences, health, law and social sciences. Located in Auvergne, in the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region, UCA is a key player in higher education and research.
Nawel Chaouni is an Assistant Professor and Researcher in Digital Communication Studies. As the scientific lead for the Erasmus project, she leverages her expertise in digital communication to foster international collaboration.
Her research and collaboration with NGOs, particularly in the area of cyberbullying prevention through multimedia resources, will enrich the project. Her efforts will ensure that the project promotes understanding and awareness of gender issues, cyberbullying and virtual violence.
Les Militants des Savoirs (MDS) is a key partner in the DIGIDEM project, promoting digital citizenship and combating fake news, conspiracy theories and online hate. With a focus on inclusivity and marginalized communities, MDS blends technology and the arts to foster critical thinking, lifelong learning and civic engagement.
The association has led several European projects on violence prevention, including R2COM, Integra, Prevex and Prevhed, and contributes to initiatives like EuKidsOnline. As a member of the UNESCO Chair for the Prevention of Radicalization and Extreme Violence, it also coordinates a European network of digital experts.
SEHA (Sustainable Education and Health Academy) is a non-profit organisation based in south-eastern Türkiye, and dedicated to preventing physical and digital violence through education and health promotion. Though quite a recent organisation, SEHA has rapidly become a leader in violence prevention, offering interdisciplinary curricula focused on domestic, digital, youth and extreme violence.
Its programs include ICT and online safety training, entrepreneurship and digital skills workshops and initiatives on mental health and substance abuse prevention. SEHA also promotes gender equality, bullying prevention and conflict resolution through community events and seminars.
Grounded in academic research, SEHA combines local insight with data-driven strategies.
IPS Innovative Prison Systems (QUALIFY JUST - IT Solutions and Consulting, LTD) is a research and consulting firm with over 15 years of experience in justice, prison reform and offender rehabilitation, active in 51 countries. IPS supports change management in correctional systems through strategic planning, staff and offender training and digital solutions.
Their work spans on different justice-related topics, such as rehabilitation, violence and radicalisation prevention and, victimisation support, covering various target audiences, and with various projects like CEDAR (Continuining Education Against Radicalisation), VicTory (Restorative and victim-centred approach to mitigate hate and violent extremism) and R2COM (Radicalisation and Violent Extremism Prevention in the Community). Across its different portfolios, IPS has delivered over 56 training programs and developed varied tools, including assessment tools and inclusion frameworks for varied institutions, including those on the governmental side, as well as civil society.
The University of Malta (UM) is Malta’s only public university, with a 400-year history and over 11,000 students. It operates 14 faculties and has coordinated or participated in 365+ EU-funded projects, including Horizon Europe and Erasmus+, focusing on education, research and social development.
UM provides strong institutional support for project management and promotes equity, diversity and inclusion through dedicated strategies and policies.
UNICAL (University of Calabria), located in Southern Italy, is a medium-sized university with a strong focus on science and technology across 14 departments, including Humanities, Economics, Engineering and Pharmacy. With over 30,000 students and 900+ scientists, UNICAL is active in international research and student mobility, supporting innovative research on social issues such as human trafficking, gender violence and cyberbullying.
The DiCES department and the Centre of Women’s Studies focus on research related to online behaviours and gender violence.
Insight S.A., founded in 2003, focuses on digital literacy, cybersecurity education and intercultural understanding. It plays a key role in promoting active citizenship and equal opportunities, with a team of experts advising major digital platforms such as Meta, Instagram, Snapchat and TikTok.
The Insight team has a strong track record including a decade spent coordinating the European Commission-funded Insafe network (31 countries), the creation of Safer Internet Day and the creation of publications and resources for international institutions such as the European Commission and the Council of Europe to shape digital citizenship education globally.
